Waffles, pancakes and ice cream: not the ideal diet for cyclists, but the sale of these goodies does help to ensure there are sufficient funds to take part in the 1000 km voor Kom op tegen Kanker cycling race.

The event’s aims - just like the other Kom op tegen Kanker campaigns - largely revolve around fundraising. In this case it’s in aid of fundamental research ultimately intended to eliminate cancer, as well as improve the quality of life of cancer patients.

Charity lunches

The Air Liquide cycling team - helped by enthusiastic colleagues - is hard at work preparing delicious confections such as waffles, pancakes and ice cream, as well as freshly-picked cherries (Cherries for Charity) for sale at various charity lunches at Air Liquide sites in Evere, Herentals and Antwerp. And if that’s not enough, Air Liquide staff have also enjoyed Chinese rice tables and meatball feasts!

Supporters welcome!

Those wishing to support the Air Liquide cycling team can choose their strategic location along the route. This year for the first time supporters’ buses will be provided. The buses leave every day (the race starts on 30 May and ends on 2 June) from Mechelen and stop at the main points along the route: the lunchtime city, near the refreshment points, along the home stretch and at the finishing line.
