Blasteq and sister company 247DIC enthusiastic about partnership
Blasteq - strategically located between Amsterdam and The Hague - markets dry ice blasting machines, while sister company 247DIC uses dry ice for industrial cleaning.
Dry ice, known to be an efficient refrigerant, is increasingly used when food products and medical and pharmaceutical goods are being transported. But dry ice — carbon dioxide in its solid form and cooled to -78.5 °C — also has an entirely different application: the material is eminently suitable for industrial installation cleaning and even food and pharma machines.
Blasteq and 247DIC market and use dry ice blasting machines in various sectors, including:
- Food: mixing machines, baking ovens, packaging machines, etc.;
- Plastics and rubber: moulds and extrusion screws;
- Petrochemical: (pneumatic) piping, valves, etc.;
- Automotive: engines and gearboxes as well as dashboards and upholstery;
- Aviation: engine turbine blades, landing gear, braking systems, etc.
Shorter production stoppages
"247DIC uses multiple cleaning techniques," co-owner Scott Broere explains. "But our experience has shown that dry ice gives the best results in most cases. Not only that, dry ice is environmentally friendly because it doesn’t use any chemicals. Cleaning can also be done in a much shorter time compared to using other techniques."
To illustrate this, Broere cites the example of a customer carrying out major annual maintenance on his two production lines: "It used to be a two-week operation. In week one, the first production line was shut down and cleaned by a team of six. The following week, the same thing happened to the second production line. Since we introduced dry ice, both production lines are cleaned in a day.”
ICS Dry Ice
"ICS Dry Ice (part of the Air Liquide group, ed.) has been our regular dry ice supplier for five years now, and with good reason," says Broere. “To start with, ICS Dry Ice handles our orders properly and on time. In all this time, nothing has ever gone wrong with a delivery which of course, makes it a pleasure to work with."
"Also, the quality of the dry ice is excellent, and it can come with FSSC 22000 food certification, which is (of course)(of particular importance when it comes to orders from the food sector) particularly important for orders from the food sector. We’re also glad we can call on ICS Dry Ice for their wide expertise. We often discuss areas of improvement with them. It keeps us on our toes and strengthens our competitive position."
